An engineering logbook sharing field experiences, in-depth technical analyses, and expert insights.
Every technology wave creates an expansive application surface; yet how foundational systems evolve is shaped not merely by end-user adoption, but by the architects who engineer the underlying protocols, physical constraints, and governance frameworks.
Ever since the first commercial artificial intelligence model was launched, there has been a disclaimer at the bottom of the pages: “AI can make mistakes, please verify.” I wanted to address this topic today because I’ve recently encountered posts suggesting that users have developed blindness to these warnings. Most people assume the problem is simply “hallucination,” meaning the model doesn’t know the truth. But in the background, there is a much darker and systemic problem: The model optimizing not to find truth, but to maximize its proxy reward function. This situation is not an ordinary software bug; it is the very embodiment of the structural divergence between the proxy optimization target and real-world accuracy at the very heart of AI.
Product development teams often fall in love with the elegance of their architecture and feature sets, but the market only cares whether operational bottlenecks are resolved. This analysis explores the collision between engineering ego and field reality, and the mental feedback loop required to break tunnel vision.
The global competition in artificial intelligence is largely debated through the rhetoric of “developing your own super model.” However, developing a frontier model is a race that demands massive capital, infrastructure, and state support. This article analyzes the technical reality of model distillation, the double standard embedded in major providers’ complaints, the fragile hope-driven economics of state-backed frontier races, and the rational positioning strategy for mid-scale economies like Türkiye. The core argument: sovereignty is not about building the largest model — it is about controlling the most critical data.
While the success of large language models expands into time series analysis, models like Google TimesFM generate significant excitement in predictive maintenance. However, industrial failure detection is not a mere curve-fitting exercise. This analysis examines the fundamental boundaries between statistical forecasting and failure physics, outlining the proper engineering architecture for industrial systems.
A direct field experience on a wire drawing machine project in the steel industry, showing how out-of-context spreadsheet translations can turn Die Calculation into Death Calculation on the operator screen.
No matter how advanced your technology is, it remains meaningless if it lacks operational relevance to the client. Real engineering value comes from stepping into the customer’s shoes, simulating their bottlenecks, and acting as a process architect.
What makes a jigsaw puzzle impossible is not the number of pieces, but the absence of the big picture. This analysis explores how true systems engineering establishes the contextual blueprint before picking up individual components.
Can high-integrity industrial safety relays be used in interlocking systems? Or are only component-level certified SIL 4 relays permitted? This question points to a widespread conceptual confusion in the sector. The answer is not simply yes or no: Utilization is subject to specific architectural conditions.
SIL 4 safety relays, one of the most critical safety components in railway signaling projects, create substantial procurement risks and cost pressures due to the market structure. This report analyzes the high supplier concentration in the current market, the two primary architectural approaches namely “Component-Level” and “System-Level”, and the impacts of these approaches on the 5-year Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
